Why Kundali Bhagya Reminds Us Of American Thriller Series ‘How To Get Away With Murder’!

Kundali Bhagya has taken an interesting turn with Akshay’s murder investigation and Preeta (Shraddha Arya) getting arrested for the same. As the story of Akshay’s murder unfolds, there are several hidden mysteries that are woven together into a simple thread linked to people staying in the Luthra house. Kundali Bhagya’s this mystery madness reminds us of a popular American thriller series How To Get Away With Murder.

The motive of the murder

In Kundali Bhagya, Akshay is believed to have gotten murdered by Preeta when he was forcing himself on her. Though her intentions weren’t wrong there is more to this story. Interestingly, in How To Get Away With Murder, Annalise Keating’s interns killed her husband Sam when he was trying to beat one of them to death. As Preeta went to Akshay after he starts blackmailing Kritika (Twinkle Vasisht), Annalise’s interns went to Sam after they get to know about him killing his mistress Lila Stangard.

Hiding proofs

After killing Sam, Keating’s interns went on to hide the trophy by which Sam was killed and also hide all the proofs that may indicate that they killed him. In Kundali Bhagya, after the police inform Luthras about Akshay’s murder, Preeta-Kritika and Prithvi (Sanjay Gagnani) – Sherlyn (Ruhi Chaturvedi) go to the hotel to clear the CCTV footage so that the police don’t get to know about their presence on his murder day.

Pinning the blame on the innocent

In Kundali Bhagya, it is not yet discovered how Akshay was murdered and who is the actual culprit. However, Preeta is arrested by the police for the same. Preeta is not sure that she is responsible for Akshay’s murder however everybody else believes that she did it. In How To Get Away Murder, Wes was showed like the one who killed Sam Keating by Annalise Keating and her interns after he was shot by an unknown shooter.

Hidden secrets

There were several secrets in the life of Annalise Keating and her interns that were buried deep inside. Throughout the series, these secrets kept getting unfolded. Be it the secret behind Annalise’s miscarriage to Wes’ biological father, everything came out in the natural progression of the story. In Kundali Bhagya, be it Prithvi, Sherlyn, Mahira (Swati Kapoor), Kritika, or Preeta, everybody is hiding a secret that is related to their past. Also, Prithvi is receiving threat calls same as Annalise’s interns about knowing something that they kept buried for so long.

Planning and plotting

Throughout the series of How To Get Away With Murder, there was a lot of planning and plotting involved. Be it hiding Sam’s murder or getting away with Lila Stangard’s murder investigation. Annalise and her interns totally justified the title ‘How To Get Away With Murder’ with their intense planning and plotting. In the show Kundali Bhagya, Mahira has been plotting against Preeta while Sherlyn and Prithvi are trying to hide their secrets. Karan has been making plans to bring Preeta out of jail while Sameer (Abhishek Kapoor) and Srishti (Anjum Fakih) are trying to find Mahira’s secrets. Everyone is busy with either hiding secrets or exposing them.
