Zee Marathi shows have always had progressive storylines, where strong female characters have been front-runners. Be it Gauri from Kaahe Diya Pardes who is shown as an independent woman, or Meghana from Julun yeti Reshimgaathi, who had the courage to choose her life and make decisions, we have seen inspiring women-centric characters, in many such serials. Here is a list of three current popular daily shows depict the theme of women empowerment:

1. Swarajayarakshak Sambhaji
The very popular show Swarajyarakshak Sambhaji, depicts the story of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj and his struggle for freedom. While the character, played by Amol Kolhe is strong and courageous, one can’t miss the same qualities displayed by his wife Yesubai (Prajakta Gaikwad) on the show. The Maharani has tackled all the problems back at the fort, while Sambhaji has away at the battle. In the recent episode, we even saw the queen fighting against the Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb, to free Sambhaji from his captivity. The Maratha king is later seen applauding her valor and wits.
Another Zee Marathi show, Agga Bai Sasubai, is the epitome of women empowerment. The show has a plot that encompasses a daughter-in-law (Shubhra aka Tejshri Pradhan) getting her mother-in-law (Asawari aka Nivedita Saraf) married to a Celebrity chef Abjijeet Raje, whom the latter has secretly fallen in love with. This is a concept that is completely new and different for the Indian daily soap landscape. Shubhra and Asawari’s relationship and their support for each other, also carry an important message. The two prove that every saas-bahu relationship need not be toxic and full of unnecessary drama.
3. Mazhya Navryachi Bayko
Mazhya Navryachi Bayko‘s Radhika has had the best graph when it comes to the list of women protagonists. She started off as a meek wife who was always oppressed by her husband. But once she took matters into her own hands, the real show began. Standing against Gurunath, Shanaya and Mrs. Sabnis, Radhika remarried and made a place for herself in the hearts of everyone.
