Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Punjabi Finale: Find out who won the prestigious title this Independence Day

Months after its journey began, Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Punjabi has finally got its first musical genius. The 27-year-old Sur Sagar from Rahon outdid the other five finalists to become the first-ever winner of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Punjabi. The three-hour finale took place on Independence Day and ended the hunt in a grand way.

Jaidev and finalists honour Corona warriors

Judge Jaidev Kumar and finalists kick-started the evening with an homage to Corona warriors. The six finalists performed in duos to pay tribute to bravehearts like doctors, nurses, police, auto drivers, and others who stood firm during the Coronavirus crisis. Sur Sagar and Mann Sagar sang Teri Mitti. Mehak Bamotra and Shubam Lodhi praised the undying spirit of warriors by singing Kar Har Maidan Fateh. Mamta Bhardwaj and Rahul Rustom wished for the prosperity of the country as they sang Ae Watan.

The nail-biting race

All six finalists, Mehak Bamotra, Sur Sagar, Mann Sagar, Shubam Lodhi and Rahul Rustom gave their best shot. However, in the semi-final round, Mann Sagar and Rahul Rustom were eliminated.

Gurdas Mann and Jazzy B’s special contribution

The trio of judges saw a minor change. Jaidev and Sonu Kakkar judged the evening with singer Richa Sharma. Jazzy B and mentor Gurdas Mann couldn’t be present at the finale. However, they marked their presence virtually throughout the finale episode.

The final result 

After the tooth-and-nail battle, the moment finally arrived. Mahek Bamotra became the second runner-up and won INR 75,000. Shubam Lodhi was declared the first runner-up and won INR 1,50,000. And finally, the trio of judges announced Sur Sagar as the winner of the show.

Sur Sagar was proud to hold up the blingy trophy and INR 2,00,000 in prize money. Mamta Bhardwaj received a special memento for her competitive spirit.
