Every year in Bengal, Mahalaya marks the prelude to Ma Durga’s arrival. This year, Mahalaya falls on September 17. ZEE5 presents a host of special events which will get you right into the festive mood. Let’s take a look at all that’s lined up!

Durga Saptasati: Shambhabami Juge Juge

This year, the effects of the pandemic may have coloured our views on celebrating the traditional way, but we decided to make the most of the situation by praying to Goddess Durga and drawing inspiration from the ancient Puranas. Our scriptures tell many stories of the great goddess who saved the mortals from dangers like these. On September 17, tune into a special dance drama of the classic Mahisasura Mardini, enacted by the leading actors of our favourite Zee Bangla TV serials like Ki Kore Bolbo Tomay star  Swastika Dutta, and Krishnakoli protagonist Tiyasha Roy. What’s more, it will be narrated by actor Sourav Saha, who plays the role of Paramahansa Ramkrishna in the serial Rani Rashmoni. Mahisasura Mardini will be telecast on September 17 from 5 AM to 7 AM, and will be available for streaming after that. Tune in!
