Earlier on Monday, Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan had announced that the government has decided to waive entertainment tax for cinemas from January to March 2021. This comes after the government’s decision to charge only 50 per cent of the electricity charges from theatres during the lockdown period to help the film industry.

Mollywood celebrities were all praises for the government, following the announcement of its decisions. Most stars thanked CM Vijayan for taking up the entertainment industry’s concerns and resolving it with effectiveness. Mollywood’s two big stars were among the firsts to be vocal as Mohanlal wrote “Hon’ble Chief Minister of Kerala Shri Pinarayi Vijayan announces concessions to energize Malayalam cinema,” in his tweet thanking the government. Meanwhile, Mammootty appreciated the CM for coming forward to revive the Malayalam film industry.
