Actor, Director Visu Passes Away At Age 75 ; Here’s A Look At His Memorable Dialogues
BollywoodVisu has a plethora of movies wherein he was loved for his characters. Here’s a look at the dialogues from his films that’s still fresh in our minds.
Veteran Kollywood director-actor Meenakshisundaram Ramasamy Viswanthan, best known by his stage name Visu, is undeniably one of the best actors that the South film industry had ever seen. The actor, who has also acted in 60 films, has not just redefined acting since his first film but has always managed to amaze his fans by his screen presence and the realness that ooze out through his characters on the silver screens. While Visu made his debut in the industry with SP Muthuraman’s Kudumbam Oru Kadambamthe, his directorial highlight was with the film Samsaram Adhu Minsaaram. It was a landmark film of his career, where he served as the writer, actor, and director in the film. However, the recent news of Visu has surely left us all teary-eyed.
Watch Visu’s film, Pattukottai Periyappa On ZEE5:
Visu breathed his last at a private hospital in Chennai. The actor passed away on March 22, 2020, due to cardiac arrest. However, he was also suffering from kidney-related ailments for the past couple of years. Visu’s death definitely came as a shock to fans and friends, many of whom have taken to social media to express their sorrow.
Visu, who was known for his witty one-liners that are not only funny but also thought-provoking, has a plethora of movies and TV shows wherein he was loved for his characters and performance. As the film and television stars and fans mourn Visu’s death, here’s a look at his memorable dialogues from our favourite films.
Here’s are the gems from Visu’s family dramas:
- “Rendu vishyathula kaNakku paaka koodathu…Appa Amma-vukku podra soaru…Akka thangaiku seiyyara seeru” – This dialogues is from the film Samsaram Adhu Minsaram, a family drama, that transformed Visu into a brand. Picking one such memorable dialogue from this film was definitely a difficult task. This film is laced with a heavy dose of sarcasm along with a message for the audience.
- “Pala peru nadakkara edathula lesu-la pullu mulaikkaadhu” – This means “Grass won’t grow on a ground that many people walk on.” This is a dialogue from the 1984 film Oorukku Upadesam. It’s a story about two sisters (separated twins), one of whom is a sex worker while the other one is married into a conservative family. The drama revolves around how the “good” sister, who gets mistaken for the “bad” one, suffers for the actions of her twin. And this dialogue is said when Visu’s character tries to prove to the “good” sister’s in-laws that she is indeed good.
- “Kootu Kudumbamngaradhu oru nalla poo madhiri…adha kasakittom…apram moondhu paaka koodathu” – Here’s another gem from the climax of Samsaram Adhu Minsaram. This is one of my personal favourites as it gives out a beautiful message and we totally agree.
- “Naan eshwaran illa da, Koteeshwaran” – This means “I’m not God. I’m a millionaire.” Remember this dialogue by Rajinikanth in the film Netrikann that attained popularity? I am sure this would have trended on the web if only Tik Tok had existed then. The dialogues for the film was penned by none other than Visu. While this is one of the dialogues that I could instantly think of but there are more such dialogues in Netrikann that elevated the film to the next level. There is no denying that the variation Visu showed while writing the father and son roles of Rajinikanth is truly remarkable.
Visu’s movies deal with social issues such as dowry harassment, widow remarriage and joint family-nuclear family debates. Let us know, what is your favourite Visu dialogue in the comment section below. Stay tuned!
