In Jeet Ki Zid, when Major Deep (Amit Sadh) is training to join the Special Forces of the Indian Army, the Colonel in charge of their training (Sushant Singh), makes them undergo some of the harshest training exercises. They share that the Special Forces are trained in such a way so that they are mentally prepared for such harsh trauma if ever captured by the enemy. At the end of the sixth episode of Jeet Ki Zid, Major Sengar shares a real incident from his earliest army days, related to that training.
The Major says that in his initial days, he and the other cadets were required to go through their swimming training. When they stood near the pool, they all were pushed into it. The Major, who had never entered a swimming pool before, shared that as soon as he got dunked, he started panicking. He kept trying to keep his head above the water while his body weight kept pushing him down.
He said that there came a moment when he started drowning but even then, kept his eyes wide open. During that moment, he saw the lifeguard thrusting a pole into the pool, for him to hold on to. As he held the pole, the guard pulled him out, as the Major held on to his life. Major Sengar shares that till this day, he still remembers the feeling of holding that pole in his palms and the sense of calm that followed.
Addressing the incident, Major Deependra Sengar said that this was his ‘magic wand’ experience. He said that the pole was like the magic wand that saved his life. The Major said that he later realized that the template of life never changes. “Every now and then life throws me into the pool and a helpful wand appears from somewhere, almost magically. Be it a situation in work, in personal life, or with loved ones,” he said. He also said that he never stops looking for this magic wand, every day, in every situation of his life.
