7 TV Bahus Like Preeta And Mahi Who Didn’t Have A Happy ‘Grih Pravesh’ Ceremony
From Preeta, Kalyani to Bani, all of these Zee bahus have had a bitter start to their marriages!
A Grih Pravesh is probably one of the most famous customs in an Indian wedding ceremony. This takes place post the wedding ceremony where the bride enters her new house for the first time. It usually involves a puja ki thali, a kalash filled with rice, and the red-painted feet of the bride walking in. We all know how dramatic and full of twists Zee shows can be and so there have been many Zee bahus who have not received a proper Grih Pravesh ceremony at all! Either the custom was ditched altogether, or done begrudgingly, with hate instead of love! Take a look at all the Zee bahus who did not get a proper welcome into their new lives!
Preeta in Kundali Bhagya
First Karan (Dheeraj Dhoopar) married Preeta (Shraddha Arya) without her consent and left her after the ceremony so she had no choice but to return to her own house. The second time they married, Karan was supposed to marry Mahira, but to save Luthras from Mahira, Preeta took her place and married Karan herself. Of course, this came as a shock to everyone. The police were also involved and the lady officers ensured that Preeta got her rights even though no one in the Luthra family wanted to give them to her. They actually wanted her to leave the house but because the police threatened to put them all in jail, they grudgingly made Preeta enter the house with hasty rituals and angry faces!
Mahi in Teri Meri Ikk Jindri
Jogi (Adhvik Mahajan) marries Mahi (Amandeep Sidhu) to save her but she does not know this yet, so she is extremely angry at him for marrying her without her consent. Mahi’s own family has disowned her and Jogi’s mother refuses to accept Mahi as her bahu! Mahi ran around in her shaadi ka joda for hours without a proper welcome or even a shred of happiness and her marriage really ended everything for her!
Rani in Apna Time Bhi Aayega
Rani (Megha Ray) is a servant to the royal family and when Veer (Fahmaan Khan) puts sindoor on her forehead to save her, she is deemed married. But Rajeshwari (Tannaz Irani) will not accept a servant girl as her bahu and hence holds a grudge against her. She insults Rani but Rajmata orders her to complete the ritual and enter the house as a member of the royal family. Only because Rajmata insists, Veer and Rani enter the house as per custom, but no one in the family wants it to happen, especially Rajeshwari, who tries to stop it twice!
Chahat in Qurbaan Hua
Neel’s (Rajveer Singh) Mami mistakes Chahat (Pratibha Ranta) for Neel’s lover and sees the blood on her forehead and assumes that Chahat and Neel got married on the same day that Saraswati died. This causes a fight amongst the family and everyone is disappointed with Neel for such a rash move. Vyasji too is very disappointed. Neel leaves Chahat near a cart next to his house while the rest of the family prepares for Sarawati’s final rites. With no ritual whatsoever, Chahat too didn’t have her ‘grih pravesh’ ceremony.
Kalyani in Tujhse Hai Raabta
Kalyani (Reem Shaikh) is forced to marry Malhar (Sehban Azim) because he is angry with her family and her for keeping him in the dark about Sampada. He marries Kalyani and then asks everyone from the family to leave as he claims that the house belongs to him. Aau Saheb tries to contest but Malhar is strong and livid and instead of walking into a new home filled with love and possibilities, Kalyani gets no welcome, no blessing and is trapped in her own house with a husband who doesn’t even love her.
Guddan Tumse Na Ho Payega
Guddan (Kanika Mann) and Akshat (Nishant Singh Malkhani) don’t like each other and don’t want to get married to each other. Akshat decides to marry Shweta but Guddan is blackmailed and needs to save her sister so she sits in Shweta’s place and marries Akshat. Suddenly a huge wind blows and Guddan’s face is revealed under the ghunghat! Everyone is left shocked and no one believes her when she speaks the truth. Guddan is left feeling dejected as no one trusts her in the house and she is not accepted… hence no ‘grih pravesh’!
Bani from Kasamh Se
Jigyasa (Ashwini Kalsekar), Jai’s (Ram Kapoor) evil sister convinces Bani (Prachi Desai) to sit in Pia’s (Roshni Chopra) place when she flees from her wedding ceremony. But Jai is livid when he sees Bani in place of Pia and takes her home only to meet with more shocked faces of the family members. When Dadi tries to bring the puja ki thali close to Bani’s face, he throws it away in anger, leaving Bani scared and extremely worried about her future! Everyone else is equally surprised and angry with Bani at this moment that should ideally be a happy memory.
