At the ghat of 'Chhath Puja', a few goons try to abduct Janki. Suraj hides Janki in a hut after she suffers stomach ache. Vishambhar gets Suraj to meet with an accident while returning with medicines.

Janki gives birth to a baby girl and Vishambhar takes her to the hospital. He orders his recruit Lallan to kill the baby girl, but Lallan leaves the girl near a 'lingam'. Vishambhar lies to Janki.

Janki wears a white saree and misses her past. Lallan gets bitten by a snake and dies before telling Vishambhar anything. A man leaves a baby in a basket in the river. Janki visits the Goddess Chhathi temple.

Dadi takes care of Janki. Badri gets Janki's child while worshiping Goddess Chhathi. Vishambhar feels remorse for his actions. Badri's wife Kalavati opposes letting the child stay home.

Badri hides the baby girl's locket. Janaki mourns over her baby girl's loss. Badri's family is disturbed by the girl's cries. Soni brings milk for her. Dadi stops Vishambhar from taking Janaki out.

Murli takes takes the girl with Badri to the hospital. Badri's wife sends Gugal after Badri. Coincidentally, Janaki runs into her baby girl along with Badri. She names her baby girl, Maithili.

Vishambhar sets Janaki and Suraj's photos ablaze and asks Janaki to forget her past. Jhumki, her mother-in-law and Gugal conspire to kill Maithili but she is saved by the grace of Goddess Chhathi.

Badri sees Maithili sleeping in the sunlight, and Jhumki makes an excuse. Murli and Badri seek help from a cop. In the temple of Goddess Chhathi, Badri comes up with an idea and makes his will.

Maithili grows up and the sage praises her. Soni asks Maithili for a gift on her birthday. Jhumki and her mother-in-law torture Maithili. Maithili asks Goddess Chhathi about her mother.

A female devotee of Chhathi Mai and her husband Master Sahib give Maithili a gift. At Soni's birthday party, Badri asks everyone to wait for Maithili. Jhumki hits Maithili and gets her to do odd jobs.

Maithili looks for her mother on the internet. Gugal tells Maithili that her mother is no more. Badri shows the family the locket he had found near Maithili and says that Maithili's mother is alive.

The teacher of a school talks about taking Maithili's test before admitting her. Badri asks Soni and Moni to help Maithili, but Kalavati and Jhumki gives them household chores. Maithili fears failing.

Jhumki wants Maithili to fail in the entrance test. She passes it by the grace of Goddess Chhathi and gets admitted. Jhumki and Gugal set her books ablaze to stop her from going to school.

On a fine morning, Maithili worries as her books go missing. Badri questions Jhumki and Gugal, and a fight begins. Maithili goes to school without the books. Later, Janki visits Maithili's school.

Maithili fears being expelled from class. The students of the class mock her. Before leaving the school, Janaki runs into Maithili and caresses her. Later, Maithili gets the books given by Janaki.

Badri decides to remove the names of those who trouble Maithili from his will. Maithili suggests Kalavati, Jhumki and Gugal to apologise to Goddess Chhathi. Later, Janaki agrees to get remarried.

Badri forgives Gugal, Kalavati and Jhumki. A thief runs away with Maithili's locket, but the police officer catches him and returns it to her. Later, someone sends Janaki's photo on the phone.

Police Inspector Alok befriends Maithili. Alok's aunt wants to get him married to her friend's daughter Sharda, but he refuses. Badri tells Alok the story of Maithili meeting him.

Alok takes Maithili to an ice cream parlour and reveals to her that he is not married. After returning home, Alok's mother gets him to talk to Janaki on the phone and he agrees to get married.

Alok brings his mother to a Goddess Chhathi temple to introduce him to Maithili. Dadi tells Janaki that her alliance is finalised and asks her to move on in life. Maithili coughs when Janaki coughs.

Alok's mother asks him for the date to meet Vishambhar. Janaki scolds Dadi for opening the temple, and turns off the lights. Kalavati, Jhumki and Gugal hatch a new conspiracy to kill Maithili.

Goddess Chhathi's miracle saves Maithili. Kalavati, Jhumki and Gugal get electric shocks. Alok consults Maithili before going to meet Janaki.

Alok, along with his family, visits Janaki's house to see her. Maithili is saddened to see Soni teaching Jhumki. Gugal suggests Maithili to adopt a mother. Janaki decides to tell Alok the truth.

Maithili insists on adopting a mother. Alok tries to give Janaki the flower given by Maithili and she accepts it. Gugal, Jhumki and Kalavati hatch a new conspiracy.
