Mehek's uncles agree to let the wedding procedures continue and soon the 'haldi' ceremony begins. As the 'haldi' ceremony proceeds, the learned scholar asks for Mehek's parents. Mehek's uncles get emotional and inform the 'pundit' that Mehek does not have a father. Mehek goes on to add that her uncles are her family and wants them to continue with the rituals.
