The film follows the life of Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, popularly known as ‘Veer Savarkar’. It traces his journey as a revolutionary freedom fighter, political prisoner and the father of Hindutva.

Directed by and starring Randeep Hooda in the titular role, the film highlights Savarkar&rsquo;s relentless struggle against British colonial rule. Hooda took on multiple roles for the film, including director, writer, and producer. Ankita Lokhande portrays his wife, Yamunabai Savarkar. The biopic-drama covers significant events from Savarkar&rsquo;s childhood through his revolutionary activities. Swatantrya Veer Savarkar was released in theaters on March 22, 2024, and will premiere on ZEE5 on May 28, 2024, the day also marks Savarkar&rsquo;s 141st birth anniversary.<h2>Swatantra Veer Savarkar&nbsp;Savarkar Plot</h2>The movie tells the story of Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, starting with the Bubonic plague of 1897, which takes his father's life. Angry at the injustices, Vinayak becomes a revolutionary, inspired by figures like Shivaji Maharaj and Mazzini. He creates the secret Abhinav Bharat Society and later joined Indian revolutionaries in London at the India House. Vinayak completes his thesis on the 1857 War of Independence and secretly sends weapons to India. He meets Mahatma Gandhi but disagrees with his methods. As India sees various revolutionary acts, Vinayak and his brother Ganesh Damodar Savarkar are arrested and imprisoned in the notorious Kalapani in the Andaman Islands.In prison, the Savarkar brothers endure harsh conditions, including solitary confinement and physical abuse. Despite these hardships, Vinayak continues his fight, advocating for better conditions for political prisoners. After years of imprisonment, Vinayak is released but faces restrictions. He coined the term Hindutva and continued his activism, challenging casteism and advocating for a united India. He refuses to support Gandhi's Quit India Movement, fears partition, and urges Hindus to prepare for defense.
