Janagan and Devanandha were given a new lease of life by the judges while Arul Prakasam had to bid goodbye to the show this season.

The top ten contestants of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Seniors Season 2, who have showcased their versatility since the beginning of the show, were put to test last weekend. After singing a variety of songs belonging to various genres, moods and emotions, the contestants had to pass the litmus test by showcasing their classical music skills. There were noted musicians on board to give the performances an authentic classical touch. And there were special guests too.

Jury member Ghatam Umashankar played the traditional instrument while veteran percussionist Ganpathy played Tabla and Mridangam. And apart from them, Kalaimamani Padmashankar (violinist) and Haritha (veena player) were also present to enhance the performances of the contestants. The musical evening got even bigger as classical musicians Mahathi and Haricharan made their presence felt as guest judges on the show.

Saturday’s episode began with Devanandha, but she fell short of the expectations of the judges. Reshma, who was the next to follow, bagged gold after making the judges go gaga over her performances. And then, it was Aslam’s turn to own the stage. Did he bag gold? Well, here’s the answer. No, Aslam didn’t strike gold but he drew appreciation from the special guests for choosing a song based on his strength. But it was Krishangi, who stole people’s hearts. She paid a tribute to veteran singer Aruna Sairam by dressing and singing like here. And for her attempt and efforts, she bagged gold. And in the end, Karthik delivered a spellbinding performance as always. He was honoured with gold for his sincere attempt.

On Sunday, Janagan began the episode but just fell short of the judges’ expectations because of an error. Sukanya, who was the next to follow, was heaped with praise by the judges as well as the guests. As a result, Sukanya bagged gold for her flawless performance. Arul Prakasam was appreciated for his efforts but the judges felt that he could have been better. But on Sunday, it was Aishwarya who stole the hearts of the judges. And as expected, she bagged gold for it. Last but least, folk specialist Lakshmi, was appreciated for her sincere efforts. She was awarded with gold.

In the end, it was time for the heartbreaking elimination segment. The lowest scorers of the day were Janagan, Arul Prakasam and Devanandha. Janagan and Devanandha were given a new lease of life by the judges while Arul Prakasam had to bid goodbye to the show this season.
