The story of ZEE5 Original romantic series It Happened In Calcutta revolves around the period of the ’60s and ‘70s when Calcutta, which is known as the ‘City of Joy’, was suffering from Cholera epidemic and unfortunate war that disturbed the peace and serenity of the nation. It is a tragic love story of a young girl Kusum, portrayed by Naghma Rizwan, who falls in love with Ronobir Chatterjee, essayed by Karan Kundrra. It also features Harman Singha as Ratan Bagchi. Directed by Ken Ghosh and produced by Ekta Kapoor (Balaji Telefilms Ltd.), it shall release on 29 February 2020.

Karan Kundrra portrays the character of Ronobir Chatterjee, a flamboyant, handsome and an arrogant individual, who only loves himself. He is an aspiring doctor in Calcutta Medical College and also a class topper. Ronobir is an attention seeker and often enjoys company of beautiful ladies.

Naghma Rizwan portrays Kusum in It Happened In Calcutta. Kusum is ambitious to become a doctor and has successfully secured admission at Calcutta Medical College. She falls in love with Ronobir Chatterjee in Calcutta Medical College, who breaks her heart and leaves her in isolation to rise above and prove her worth later.

Harman Singha plays the character of Ratan Bagchi. He is a loyal friend to Ronobir Chatterjee and also true and honest love. Ratan is also studying at Calcutta Medical College and is determined to become a doctor.
