Kannamoochi, Topless, Nisha – 4 Series To Binge-Watch While You’re In Self Isolation

With the Coronavirus pandemic raging in the country, all of us are in self isolation this weekend. And it can get pretty boring sitting at home doing nothing but self-isolation. But this would also be the perfect opportunity to binge-watch a whole lot of series online for which you never seem to find the time, otherwise. So, here are some of the ZEE5 original series that you should include in your digital entertainment marathon. We guarantee you that your time in self-isolation will fly by pretty quickly.

Topless

Written and directed by Dinesh Mohan, Topless is a 2020 ZEE5 Tamil original comedy-thriller in the heist genre. The story of Topless revolves around three parties all itching to get their hands on a vintage nude painting. This includes a gang led by a con man, a local politician and a foreign national, who are all determined to acquire a painting. Topless features Guru Somasundaram (of Jigarthanda fame), Bazak Gaziler Prasad, Gokul Anand, Arun Alexander (Kolamavu Kokila actor), Harish Uththaman and Rohit Muralidharan in prominent roles.

Kannamoochi

Kannamoochi is ZEE5’s latest original web series that revolves around a speech- and hearing-impaired girl Aishu, who goes missing from her home and her troubled mother Priya (played by Poorna) who launches a search for her missing daughter. However, it gets interesting as Priya uncovers a shocking revelation about an incident that occurred 20 years ago during her search mission. The series, that stars Poorna, Vivek Prasanna, Amzath Khan and Bose Venkat, released on March 13, 2020, and is currently trending on the platform. If you haven’t watched Kannamoochi yet, we can’t recommend it enough.

Nisha

Psychological thriller Nisha, starring Anish Padmanabhan, Vaibhavi Shandilya, and Kalloori Vinoth in the lead roles, is a ZEE5 Tamil Original web series. Directed by Karthik Rajan, Nisha revolves around the three girls, who are held hostage by a psychopath in a hideout and are being tortured for their past crime.

Mitta

Mitta narrates the tale of two youths, characters played by actors Lallu and Sathu, who are habitual smokers of weed. The main conflict of the series centres, ironically, around a bag of weed. Sathu’s girlfriend accidentally sells a bag of weed, that belongs to their peddler friend Ishtiaq, to someone else. So, all the four of them embark on a journey to find the bag of weed and the man who bought it from them. The series is interesting in that the two characters seem to be going through some kind of existential crisis and often discuss questions of life while they are high as well as politics and seemingly random topics. However, despite their long talks, the only thing connecting the two of them is weed.

What’s Up Velakkari

What’s Up Velakkari revolves around Jessi, an ultra-modern and tech-savvy maid, who is an integral part of her employer Natraj’s life. Things get complicated when Natraj’s newly-wed wife feels jealous of Jessi’s tech-savvy skills and her chemistry with Natraj. Starring Dhanya Balakrishna as the uber-savvy maid Jessi, the series also features Rakendu Mouli, Abhirami Iyer and Praveen Kumar M in pivotal roles.
