Mirnal Kulkarni is one of Marathi cinema’s most established actresses. The beauty was seen on Zee Marathi’s popular chat show Kanala Khada where she got candid like never before. Mrinal started her chit chat with host Sanjay Mone by first talking about her childhood. She says that acting was never a part of the plan. In fact Mrinal was a very studious kid!

She reveals that she comes from a family of teachers and has been brought up in a studious environment. Mrinal adds that she gives her parents credit for being supportive of her career and says that she also thanks her husband and in-laws as acting came her way after she got married. 

When talking about the kind of films that she has chosen and roles that she has played, Mrinal says that she always took up work that she wished to do but not that came her way. She adds that even though a lot of work was offered to her, she always chose roles that pleased her. Mrinal also says that she consciously worked in films that she could watch with her family. She points out that this is one rule that she has always followed in her career.

The actress maintains that the entertainment industry tends to typecast actors, sometimes due to their appearances as well. Aside from her talent, Mrinal is also known for her beauty but adds that the same had become a bane in her career. She reveals that due to her appearance, people typecast her as an actress who could only play “subtle” characters. But Mrinal says that she overcame the same by constantly choosing intense characters where she proved her worth.

Mrinal and Ruchir are childhood sweethearts! The actress says that the two practically grew up together and that their parents were family friends. However it was only in college that she started liking Ruchir. She says that they happened to take admission in the same college and Mrinal kept waiting for him to propose but that never happened. One fine day, she went up to him and said, “Whatever you may or may not ask me, my answer is yes!”

Mirnal adds that till date Ruchir teases her and says that till date, he still doesn’t know what she said yes to as he never asked him anything. Lol!

Mrinal recalls the time she hosted a program starring Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan. The actress says that for a 6:pm schedule, the actor reached half an hour early and welcomed her instead of being the other way around! Mrinal says that Big B asked her numerous questions about what he was expected to do on stage and was extremely through with his work. She adds that she learnt a valuable lesson on how to be well prepared and on time, from the superstar.
