Govinda spoke about various things in his throwback interview with Rajat Sharma in Aap Ki Adalat. Continuing the conversation, the actor shared a hilarious incident which turned out to be an inspiration in his 1995 comedy-drama movie Coolie No 1. The star played the role of Raju in David Dhawan- directorial. Watch the video below:
He explained that every character he had portrayed in all his movies were inspired by people he had met in his life. Speaking about playing Raju in Coolie No 1, the actor recalled going to an event or function and observing a person. Govinda noticed that he had big eyes, which grabbed everyone’s attention who came across him. The star even acted like him, showing how that stranger looked.
He called that person restless for keenly looking at everyone and everything. So, Govinda said that he found him interesting. Before he could strike a conversation with that man, a cop came up and enquired who was he, where did he come from, and other things. When the police asked why was he threatening him, the guy answered by eyes is like that only. Govinda concluded that he how he found the stranger’s character fun, and it became a hit in Coolie No 1, after some time.
So, before the filming of the comedy-drama movie, Govinda felt that he and Kader Khan had been playing the same kinds of roles. After a while, he requested to showcase his skills using the stranger’s behaviour and transformed into his character. As everyone liked it, nine hours later, the shooting for Coolie No 1 began. Hence, it emerged out to be a hit.
