Tom Cruise unhappy with Mission: Impossible 7 release?

Tom Cruise is said to be dissatisfied with ViacomCBS’ choice to distribute Mission: Impossible 7 on Paramount+ 45 days after its theatrical debut. For the past 25 years, Mission: Impossible has been one of Paramount Pictures’ most stable franchises, and Tom Cruise has been one of the studio’s biggest stars. Mission: Impossible 7 is currently scheduled to be released on September 30th, the latest in a long line of release date adjustments.

With the recent announcement that Jim Gianopulos would step down as CEO of Paramount and Nickelodeon President Brian Robbins would take over as CEO, the studio has experienced a significant transformation. According to reports, Paramount Pictures is emphasising streaming releases above theatrical releases. Viacom CEO Bob Bakish revealed earlier in 2021 that the studio’s films, beginning with A Quiet Place Part II, will premiere on Paramount+ 45 days following their theatrical release, and that this included Mission: Impossible 7. However, the film’s release, as well as Cruise’s Top Gun: Maverick, has been postponed to 2022 by Paramount Pictures.
