Shukranu, starring Divyenndu Sharma, Shweta Basu Prasad and Sheetal Thakur, is an upcoming ZEE5 Original film. With a tagline ‘Hui emotion ki nasbandi,’ the movie is based on forced sterilization during the emergency rule in India in 1976. Back then, sterilization was no longer a choice — it was a mandate. Directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Bishnu Dev Halder, Shukranu showcases a sequence of events which the protagonist had to deal with and how his marriage, love life and peace of mind were affected owing to the situation. The script is perfectly punctuated with situational comedy.

Slated to premiere on ZEE5 on the occasion of Valentine’s Day 14 February 2020, the makers released a new poster on Tuesday. It features Divyenndu, Shweta and Sheetal in the classic 70s look. Shweta is shown pregnant, while Sheetal wonders and Divyenndu seems rather upset. Seen the poster yet? Check it out here:

Shukranu is the debut digital film produced by Reliance Entertainment. The film marks Divyenndu’s second outing with ZEE5 after Badnaam Gali. Speaking about the same, he said, “We have already started shooting the film. My character Inder goes through a lot of emotions as a result of forced sterilization which makes it a challenge to play as we want it to be sensitive and entertaining. This film will mark my second outing with ZEE5 after the award-winning Badnaam Gali and I am looking for a fruitful associate once again!”
