The year 2017 marks the entry of Pollywood’s breakthrough superhero adventure film Super Singh. With this Punjabi film, director Anurag Singh (known for hard-hitting superhits like Punjab 1984 and Kesari) proves that Punjab can have its own superhero and it can be as entertaining as another other commercial production. But the world of Super Singh has a lot more interesting characters, so let’s delve into it.

Let us introduce you to Sajjan Singh (Diljit Dosanjh), a carefree gabru munda who initially hates his name and wants to be addressed as Sam. Sajjan loves to imitate his Angrezi friends and is not so concerned with his own unique identity. With the help of a few, loyal close ones, he discovers the true Sikh within him and that’s how he grows from Sam to Sajjan and from Sajjan to Super Singh.

Twinkle Kaur (Sonam Bajwa) is Sajjan’s childhood friend. Twinkle moved to Canada so that she could be around Sajjan. Twinkle cares about Sajjan and can do anything for him. But Sajjan avoids her and treats her only as a best friend. Twinkle makes the excuse of pursuing an MBA just to stay close to Sajjan, but he never understands her feelings.

This little boy is a true example of chhota packet bada dhamaka. Happy Singh (Meherbaan Singh) is Sajjan’s best friend and his ustaad. Sajjan likes to be in his company as he is a well-rooted and well-cultured boy. Unfortunately, Happy is battling cancer, but his bravery inspires Sajjan in a big way. In a way, Happy is responsible for bringing out the ‘super Singh’ in Sajjan.

Rehmat (Pawan Malhotra) is a godman who has a great following in Punjab. Sajjan’s mother is also a devotee of Rehmat. The godman puts on a noble face and is a very soft-spoken person, but he has grandiose aspirations of commanding millions of people.

Cathy (Alexandra Bandean) is Sajjan’s crush. Sajjan likes Cathy so much that he ignores Twinkle and her feelings. Sajjan is even ready to compromise on his identity, just for Cathy’s acceptance.
