Bygone is the era when cop roles in movies were limited to a typical dialogue, “Police arrived late at the crime scene!”. The new-age storytelling is laden with realism and thus in many crime shows/movies, we have some intriguing cop characters. Being armed with guns and their witty dialogues, the fictional cops have become an interesting cinematic element. While some of them are depicted as corrupt or lazy, there are few bold ones winning our hearts. And ZEE5’s latest release Mai Hero Boll Raha Hu’s inspector Sachin Kadam belongs to the same league.

Sachin Kadam

ZEE5’s latest release Mai Hero Boll Raha perfectly portrays the controversial connection between the worlds of #GunsandGlamour. It revolves around the journey of Nawab who aspires to rule Bombay by becoming a gangster. While Nawab’s character drives the show, it is inspector Sachin Kadam who gives him a tough fight. Sachin is an encounter specialist who wants to free the city from notorious criminals.

His ideology of justice is a one-way process. Kadam is quite bold and takes upon the criminal world with his fierce actions. The fight sequences between Nawab and Kadam are an interesting aspect of the show. 

Bhaskar Shetty

Bhaskar a young boy moves to Mumbai after a tragic incident in his hometown. In Mumbai, a gangster Rama Shetty becomes his mentor. However, Bhaskar has other plans and he emerges as a top encounter specialist of Mumbai Police. Conflicts arise when he has to cross paths with his master Rama. 

Unlike other fictitious cops, Bhaskar is quite clever rather than just being hot-headed. He desires to rule the city and has his own ways to accomplish his dreams.

DCP Rakesh Maria

Black Friday is probably the one flick you’d definitely not want to miss out on. An Anurag Kashyap film documents the investigation behind the 1993 Bombay Blasts. The major highlight of this film is that it uses real names. From politician LK Advani to underworld don Dawood Ibrahim, Kashyap never shies to mention these real names. Similarly, Kay Kay Menon plays the real-life character of DCP Rakesh Maria, an encounter specialist.

Maria is the most humanized cop portrayed in films. From his interrogation style to epic monologues, there’s everything to love about this character.

Rajveer Shekhawat Aka Radhe

Salman Khan will be soon reviving his character of Radhe for the film ‘Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai’. Earlier, the actor had played this character in the film Wanted. Rajveer Shekhawat aka Radhe is another intriguing cop character. He plays his act quite secretly and enters the gang of criminals to get a better insight. The trailer of Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai also reveals how his character has registered 97 encounters under his name and he’s a ‘specialist’ when it comes to eradicating crimes. 

Anant Velankar

Screenplay written by masterful writer Vijay Tendulkar and lead performed by Om Puri, what else does one need? The classic cop drama Ardh Satya remains to be one of the most notable works of Indian Cinema. Inspector Anant Velankar is a no-nonsense cop and solely drives this intriguing drama. Anant has anger issues and he fails to understand the silent nature of society.

He decides to fight against the system, however, ends up getting caught within it. Om Puri’s portrayal of Anant is a must-watch.

Sadhu Agashe

In Ab Tak Chhappan, Sadhu Agashe makes a name for himself after a series of encounters. Named as one of the top cops of the city, Sadhu finds himself in a dilemma after a personal tragedy strikes. His wife gets murdered and then begins the story of his revenge. A perfect character study by Ram Gopal Varma scores high with Nana Patekar’s performance.

Sam Bharucha

Naseeruddin Shah starrer ‘Encounter: The Killing’ essays the aftermath of a police encounter. Inspector Sam Bharucha kills a young mobster in an encounter and finds a link behind the crimes in a city. This leads him to investigate the dead criminal. As he delves further, he finds himself in a trap wherein there’s no way out.

Shamsher Khan

Sanjay Gupta’s Shootout At Lokhandwala follows the story of young criminals who form a gang to rule the city of Mumbai. Inspector Samsher Khan plans an encounter against the gang. However, his integrity and responsibilities are questioned by the authorities. The film rightfully documents the life of a police officer who deals with the criminals during the daytime and at night he has to spend time with his family.

That leads to a crisis and Samsher Khan finds a way to deal with it. Played by Sanjay Dutt, Khan is a fictitious cop with realistic character traits.
