Pavitra Rishta: The Truth Of Manav And Archana’s Sacred Relationship

In 2009, Ekta Kapoor’s romantic-drama Pavitra Rishta had become the most popular daily-soap. It starred Sushant Singh Rajput and Ankita Lokhande in lead roles, while veteran actors like Usha Nadkarni and Savita Prabhune portrayed supporting characters. Later, it also featured Rithvik Dhanjani and Asha Negi. Running for five long years, the serial completed 1,424 episodes in 2014. While the coronavirus lockdown has been extended, rewatch Manav and Archana’s sacred relationship on ZEE5.

1. The beginning of love

Manav Deshmukh (Sushant Singh Rajput) is a  hard-working car mechanic, who is the sole bread-winner of his poor family. He falls for Archana Karanjkar (Ankita Lokhande), who is a less-educated homemaker. She supports her family of five by doing odd jobs after her mother, Sulochana Karanjkar takes ill. Manav expresses his feelings for Archana and proposes marriage to her. But, Archana’s father, Manohar Karanjkar thinks that her husband should have a better job and financial security in order to keep her happy after marriage.

2. The holy matrimony after hardships

Manav works hard and secures a stable job at a renowned firm. Manav’s mother, Savita Deshmukh strongly opposes his desire to marry Archana. After a lot of hurdles and hardships, Manav-Archana convince their families and get married to each other in a temple. Archana goes to the Deshmukh house as the new daughter-in-law only to get tortured by her mother-in-law. Archana and Manav have a son named Soham. Soon after his birth, Archana’s childless sister, Varsha abducts Soham and runs away. They are presumed to be dead eventually.

3. Leaps and twists in their life

A year later, Manav-Archana have twin daughters, Ovi and Tejaswani. Then, Savita tai creates a huge misunderstanding between Manav-Archana and both of them think that the other wants a divorce. They sign the papers and pass them to court but their divorce isn’t finalised. Sadly, they part ways regardless and the show takes a leap of 18 long years. Now, Manav is settled in London with his mother and twin daughters Ovi and Tejaswini. And Archana lives in an apartment in Mumbai with her mother and adopted daughter, Purvi (Asha Negi).

4. Unconventional end in heaven

Manav has to come back to India to finalise their divorce and they are ordered a six-month courtship period together before the papers are passed. Meanwhile, Tejaswini discovers and exposes Savita tai’s conspiracy against Manav-Archana. The couple reunites and the entire family starts living together. The show then takes a leap of six months and show focuses on Manav-Archana’s children. Then, after 24 years, it is revealed that Manav meets with a fatal car accident and Archana dies of grief. They commemorate their pavitra rishta in heaven, finally.
