Shaheer Sheikh manages to touch the bar raised by Sushant Singh Rajput as Manav, while Ankita Lokhande showcases a more refined version of Archana

With the arrival of ‘Pavitra Rishta: It’s never too late’ on Zee 5, change became inevitable. Dubbed as the story of the average Indian household, Pavitra Rishta topped the list of Indian dramas when it was broadcasted for the first time in 2009. Twelve years later, a lot has changed. In contrary to its prequel of 1424 episodes, this version consists of a mere eight yet powerful episodes.

The lead characters, Archana (played by Ankita Lokhande) and Manav (played by Shaheer Sheikh), once again remain a focal point of the story. However, a lot has changed, including the occupation of Archana, who now works at a coffee shop. Nonetheless, just like its predecessor, the second season revolves around the same script but with a complete makeover.

The Story

The story starts with a rainy day where Manav helps Archana without her noticing it. On the same day while dropping Archana at her home in a posh car, Manav, who works as a mechanic, is mistaken as manager of a garage by Archana’s family. From there, a string of events starts revolving around the two which brings them close yet tough to unite.

While Archana’s engagement breaks the duo into fights between her and her finance’s family, her marriage with Manav appears the only viable solution to her mother. Here, just like season one, Manav’s mother appears as a greedy character who lies about Manav’s profession to Archana’s family. As the duo are about to unite, the tragedy of truth falls upon them with Archana’s family calling off the wedding immediately.

Nonetheless, the two age-old legendary lovers are inseparable throughout the season and are seen sharing loveable moments every now and then.

Final Verdict

Pavitra Rishta 2.0 is a positive addition to the popular drama. While Shaheer Sheikh managed to touch the bar raised by Sushant Singh Rajput in the role of Manav, Ankita Lokhande just showcased a more refined version of Archana. For many fans out there, the second season may just be a recall to old good days. But for many new watchers, this season will be much more than a typical romantic drama.
