Kangana Ranauts’s Thalaivi Gets Postponed Amid Rising COVID-19 Cases
Team Thalaivi shared a post on their Instagram profile informing fans about the release date of Thalaivi being postponed due to rising COVID-19 cases.
The second wave of COVID-19 has hit India and how! Amid the rising cases, a lot of states are imposing lockdowns, night curfews and more. Just like any other sector, this has highly affected the film industry as well. With the theatres shutting down in Maharashtra and some other states, many films have postponed their release dates. Adding to this list is Kangana Ranaut’s Thalaivi.
Check out this video to know more about the same:
Based on the late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and Indian actress J Jayalalithaa’s life journey, Thalaivi starring Kangana Ranaut was supposed to hit the theatres on 23rd April, 2021. The film was scheduled to release in three languages namely, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. But amid the rising COVID-19 cases and impending lockdown in Maharashtra, the Thalaivi team announced that the release of the film is being postponed.
Team Thalaivi shared a note by the makers on their social media pages with the caption that read, “#Thalaivi has always been about people first and in these times, people and their safety comes first.” The note talked about how the film was supposed to release in 3 languages and the makers want to do so simultaneously, which is obviously not possible due to the lockdown restrictions in Maharashtra. They also said that the film is ready but they want to cooperate with the Government and thus the date is being deterred.
