Elnaaz made her debut with Sacred Games last year. She currently plays officer Natasha Hashmi opposite Kunal Kemmu in ZEE5 original series Abhay.

Kunal Kemmu and Elnaaz Norouzi-starrer Abhay has cut a dash with netizens. The ZEE5 original series stars Kunal as a Special Task Force officer Abhay Singh and Elnaaz as officer Natasha Hashmi. Onscreen, the two actors are pretty intense and always seen solving gruesome crimes. However, when the cameras are not rolling, Kunal and Elnaaz share a fun rapport and friendly chemistry. In fact, Kunal keeps telling everyone on sets that his co-star is a spy, Elnaaz told us in an exclusive conversation.

Elnaaz, an Iran-born actress and model, knows Persian, English, French, German, Hindi, Urdu and now even Punjabi. It is her very talent of being fluent in seven languages that makes Kunal joke about her being a spy. “Kunal makes fun of me on the sets. He keeps telling everyone that she must be a spy. There is no normal person on this earth who can speak so many languages in their accents. He keeps saying that,” says Elnaaz.

However, being a foreigner, a lot of people believe that she must not know Hindi, Elnaaz asserts. She details, “A lot of people don’t believe it. A lot of people don’t know it. Me and my team try to figure out how to make people understand. It is me and I am speaking the language. I think it just takes a little bit of time and some more projects for people to understand that I do speak the language well and I understand. But, it’s okay. I am on my way I guess.”

Recalling an incident from the sets of Abhay, Elnaaz narates to us over a telephonic calls, “The other day we were sitting with Kunal. I don’t remember who we were talking about and they were saying something and I went there, “Toh wo faarikh ho gaya?” They were both looking at me like I used some weird word and they are like “faarikh.” They knew the meaning but they were like we should add this word to our vocabulary. I didn’t think much that I was using an Urdu word but it’s nice to see that people like it and appreciating it. Yeah, still working on my Hindi.”

Rest assured, Elnaaz speaks 100% fluent Hindi. Directors, please take note!
