Deepika Padukone made her Hollywood debut in 2017 with ‘XXX: Return of Xander Cage’ starring alongside Hollywood actors Vin Diesel.

Deepika Padukone gave netizens the surprise of the year with an announcement of her new Hollywood movie on social media. The actor unveiled her second Hollywood project following xXx: Return Of The Xander Cage. The fact that she is not only acting in the film but also producing it under her banner Ka Productions, which also supported the popular drama Chhapaak last year, was the bigger surprise. The massive budget of the film is currently making news. The untitled film will be a cross-cultural love comedy produced by STXfilms, a branch of Eros STX Global Corporation, and Temple Hill, a studio known for films like the Twilight trilogy, The Fault in Our Stars, and Love, Simon.

India’s representation in world cinema is well assured with Deepika and her co-conqueror Priyanka Chopra Jonas being the clear winners. Since the actor made the news public, Twitter has been a hive of activity. One such admirer posted, “Also, i have stopped complaining about her not announcing films, not being active on sm, not doing photoshoots months ago…coz ik whenever she’ll come up with something it will be super exciting and will be worth it and it always is.”

“There is a reason Deepika is one of the biggest global stars to come from India. She is enormously talented with an infectious personality and her profile continues to grow as an international superstar,” said Adam Fogelson, chairman of STXfilms Motion Picture Group. Touted to be a rom-com, it is set against the backdrop of New York and India. The film is set to follow the Crazy Rich Asians template.

The film is expected to premiere next year. In the meantime, the 35-year-old is working on a variety of projects closer to home. The next project includes working on Shakun Batra’s film with Siddhant Chaturvedi and Ananya Panday, Siddharth Anand’s action-packed Pathan with Shah Rukh Khan, and Amitabh Bachchan’s self-produced adaptation of The Intern are among them.
