The Academy Award-winning actor, Colin Firth turns a year older as his age meter graciously tips over by one

The ‘brooding Mr Darcy’ is all set to add one more year to his bio. Recognised for his epochal move of diving into the lake in the famous lake scene in BBCs Pride and Prejudice, British actor Colin Andrew Firth will turn 61 this September 10th.

Such was his mastery over this Jane Austen’s character from her acclaimed novel that his loyal fans consider Colin Firth to be Mr Darcy for his intricate Britishness. A multi-award-winning actor including the much-acclaimed Academy award to boot, Colin Firth has also won critical acclaim for his roles in films such as The King’s Speech and Love Actually.

An endearing Instagram post by his estranged wife Livia Guiggioli to mark his 60th birthday proved to the world that the two hearts still care for each other. The 52-year-old film producer Livia separated from Colin Firth after 22-years of marriage in December 2019. The post incidentally showed Colin Firth wearing a ‘stolen’ Elton John costume on the sets of his now popular film series Kingsman. Livia and Colin Firth have sons Luca, 19, and Matteo, 17.

The Bridget Jones’s Diary star also has son Will, 29, from Meg Tilly, his former girlfriend. Even after their separation, the duo has continued their friendly demeanour to each other, typified by them co-hosting the screening of The Great Hack in London. Born in Grayshott, a village in the United Kingdom, this A-lister, whose Zodiac sign is Virgo – The Maiden, shares a close bond with Livia in their love for their children.

While industry watchers considered his appearance tailor-made for period dramas, Colin Firth has dazzled in a wide array of roles. Films such as Mamma Mia, Devil’s Knot, What A Girl Wants, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, The Railway Man only highlights this varied richness. A measured writer in his means, Colin Firth has also supported non-governmental organisations such as Survival International and Refugee Council.

Firth received the Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in the 2011 Queen’s Birthday Honours for his service to drama. Colin Firth is scheduled to appear in an action-comedy Zombie adaptation based on the comic Zombie Brother. He recently starred in Supernova, a film by Harry Macqueen that premiered in the USA.
