It’s birthday time for senior actress and politician Khushbu Sundar. She turns 51

Khushbu Sundar, an actor known for a substantial body of work in Indian cinema is celebrating her 51st birthday today. Needless to say her social media timelines are filled with birthday wishes.

At 51, it seems Khushbu has just begun a new phase of her life.  From drastic health transformation to participating in a popular dance reality show – Dance vs Dance, Khushbu is unstoppable.

Born as Nakhat Khan, in a Muslim family in Andheri, Sundar started her career as a child actor and made way into the hearts of people first with her innocence and later with her performance. The stage name ‘Khushbu’ was given to her by her parents later.
She made her debut with ‘The Burning Train’ in 1980 and went on to appear in a slew of Hindi films.
In 1986, Khushbu did her first Telugu film ‘Kaliyuga Pandavulu’ starring Venkatesh. The film produced by the legendary D.Ramanaidu was a box office hit. Its success paved the way for the actress in Tollywood. The actress has been part of a number of Telugu films that range from offbeat to masala for instance, ‘Stalin’ ‘Jalsa’, ‘Attarintiki Daredi’, ‘Something Something’. She appeared opposite popular actors Nagarjuna and Chiranjeevi and enjoyed massive popularity.
The actress took a break from Telugu films and concentrated on Tamil cinema. In 2016, she made a comeback with the action-drama film ‘Agnyaathvaasi’ starring megastar Pawan Kalyan. It was directed by Trivikram Srinivas.

The actress is known for her forthrightness and stirred a huge controversy in 2010 with her remarks on pre-marital sex. A number of court cases were filed against her but she stood her ground. Eventually, the court cases were quashed. Khushbu has been part of Indian politics and joined Indian National Congress in 2014. In 2020 she quit the INC to join BJP.

The actress keeps her fans updated through her social media posts and had left everyone surprised with major makeover posts recently. She had shared her weight-loss journey which elicited a positive response from her fans.

Khushbu is married to Sundar C and has two children. She is based in Chennai.
