Rohit Sharma reached Chennai for the forthcoming bilateral Test series against England. Are his stats in the test series a concern for India? Find out.

Indian Cricket squad opener Rohit Sharma along with Ajinkya Rahane and Shardul Thakur reached Chennai on Tuesday, 26th January for their forthcoming bilateral Test series against England. In a recent interview, cricket expert Vaibhav Bhola raised the concern surrounding ace cricket cricketer Rohit Sharma’s inability to score runs in test series on international grounds. In the interaction, Vaibhav states that Rohit’s striking rate on Indian grounds is 90, but when it comes to international grounds, be it England, Australia, or South Africa, the strike rate of the cricketer drops down to 27. As per Vaibhav, Rohit’s inability of collecting runs is a major issue of concern for the Indian Cricket squad. While praising Rohit’s capability of putting up high scores, Vaibhav opines that the cricketer should work on improving his international test series performance. He also claimed that Rohit’s age could be one of the major contributing factors towards the issue.

Meanwhile, Indian skipper Virat Kohli and other team players are scheduled to arrive in Chennai on Wednesday. It is also reported that England players Jofra Archer, Ben Stokes, and others have already reached the location. All the Indian and England players will have to undergo a six-day quarantine period and several COVID-19 tests to be declared fit to play. According to the BCCI, only those who test negative for the contagious virus will be allowed to stay in a bio-bubble.

“Members of the two teams will be put up at Hotel Leela Palace along with match officials. They will be under quarantine for six days and are likely to start practice from February 2,” said India’s squad liaison officer.

England is scheduled to be touring India for 5 T20Is, 3 ODIs, and 4 test matches in total. Of which the first two tests will be played in Chennai while the rest will be held in Ahmedabad. After the COVID-19 lockdown, this is the first time when India is hosting its first international bilateral series in the country.
