Two bills were controversially passed in Rajya Sabha yesterday.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has once again spoken in favour of the farm bills that were passed in Parliament yesterday. While speaking in a video address to the people of Bihar, the PM said that the proposed farming laws are “historic and necessary” for the country to move forward. He also chose to attack the opposition by indicating that they have knowingly created the controversy by instigating farmers with lies as they “feel control slipping away.”

After their passing in the Lok Sabha, the two farm bills were passed in the Rajya Sabha in a controversial manner. The opposition claimed that the government did not have the numbers and there was a rampant violation of rules that helped the BJP pass the bills. PM Modi has said, “After these historic changes in the agriculture sector, after such a big system change, some people saw that it is slipping out of their grip. So now these people are trying to mislead farmers on MSP (Minimum Support Price).”
