According to the new unlock plan, film shooting can commence in a bubble up to 5 pm, while considering all COVID-19 restrictions.

COVID-19 has had devastating effects on all aspects of life. One that was especially affected, is people’s livelihood. Offices were shut down, many people lost their jobs, some didn’t even have enough resources to survive. Amid all this, one industry that was vastly affected is the Indian film industry. Ever since the first lockdown, and now with the second lockdown, film shootings had been halted. All the big banner films which were the source of livelihood for thousands of people were suddenly stopped. But now there’s good news for everyone from the industry, as the Maharashtra government has allowed shootings to take place with restrictions after the announcement of its 5-level unlock plan.

As film shootings were halted and cinema halls were shut down, the film industry was badly hit during the lockdown. After multiple requests from the Film Federation of India, CM Uddhav Thackeray has finally addressed their pleas in the recent unlock plan. According to this, film shootings can commence in a bubble, while following all COVID-19 protocols. But the government has also restricted any movement after 5 pm, meaning the shoots will have to commence before that time.

This unlock plan will enable many big-budget films like Salman Khan’s Tiger 3, Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathan, Alia Bhatt’s Gangubai Kathiawadi, Ajay Devgn’s Mayday and Ranbir Kapoor’s Brahmastra, among others to resume shooting. Although currently, there’s no provision for reopening cinema halls, if Mumbai moves to a level 2 city from its current position of a level 3 city, even cinema halls will reopen with 15 per cent occupancy.

While we are getting back on track with the phase-wise opening, we can’t go off the rails on our common main goal – a Covid free Mumbai. Let’s reopen, but with care. Follow all precautions!”
