5 Scenes From Venkatesh’s Aadavari Matalaku Ardhalu Verule That Will Get You Teary-Eyed

1. Being called careless

Aadavari Matalaku Ardhalu Verule, starring Venkatesh and Trisha Krishnan in the lead roles, remains a classic family entertainer even after completing a decade since its theatrical release. The Telugu film transitions from comic to tragic to teaching life lessons smoothly. We list down five scenes that almost had us in tears. We’re sure you will relate.

Venkatesh’s character Ganesh has been unemployed for almost a decade and has been living off the ‘pocket-money’ that his father, Kota Srinivas Rao, gives him every day before going to work, at the age of 65. The father-son duo is constantly taunting and competing with each other. After yet another failed interview, Ganesh’s father starts yelling at him for his rude behaviour and tells him that he is a disgrace. He is a son who hasn’t even bothered to check on his old father and his deteriorating health. Watching this, there is no way one can resist shedding a tear or two.

2. Lacking confidence

In the only interview that Ganesh manages to crack, he is confronted by another obstacle. In the group discussion round, when each candidate puts across their point in English, all Ganesh manages to utter is “yeah!”. He is aware of the fact that his English skills do not match up to those sitting with him. This drops his levels of confidence entirely. This scene is, in fact, the reality of many youngsters. Though we’re hoping there’s a Trisha out there, too, who will help people in such situations.

3. Watching father being insulted

Ganesh loses his mind because he is rejected by Kirti (Trisha). The next day his father goes to speak to Kirti and tries to explain that Ganesh may seem like an idiot, but is actually a gem of a person. Kirti, who is already done tolerating Ganesh’s nuisance, doesn’t pay heed to his father and begins to yell at him. If you thought this itself is embarrassing and heart-wrenching, Ganesh stands startled at her behaviour. We all know there’s nothing worse than seeing your parents suffer for something that we did.

4. Losing the only and one

After some struggle, Ganesh and his father come to happy terms with each other. To celebrate their success and the new developments in their relationships, the men toast a drink. That night, his father goes to sleep peacefully after a long time. But little did we know that he would never wake up from his peaceful sleep. The only family that Ganesh had was his father, and after just one moment of pure happiness, that is also taken away from him.

5. Sense of belonging

By the second half, Ganesh has lost the girl he loves to his friend and his father to death. There is nothing that can make him smile genuinely. But he is a sport and so promises to make his friend’s wedding grander. There he meets the big fat Indian family who treat him extremely well. Their love and gestures remind him, after a long time, of what having a family, a home is and what being loved is like. He feels so overwhelmed that the only way to justify it is to let out a smile and a teardrop.
