DCP Vir Sooryavanshi aka Akshay Kumar successfully takes the legacy of its predecessors (Singham and Simmba) ahead. From Katrina Kaif’s Tip Tip Barsa Paani dance to Akshay’s love for his country, Sooryavanshi makes for a one-time watch

For almost 18 months now, Rohit Shetty has created a huge buzz around his film Sooryavanshi that hit the theaters, today, i.e., Nov 5, 2021. While many were skeptical if films will be able to bring the audience back to the theaters, Sooryavanshi has proved its mettle and fans have been going gaga since its release. Sooryavanshi was premiered in theaters this morning and it’s been creating ripples on social media. The film stars an ensemble cast of Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif, Ajay Devgn, Ranveer Singh, Jackie Shroff, Javed Jaffrey, Sikandar Kher, and Abhimanyu Singh. Helmed by Rohit Shetty, the cop universe is backed by Karan Johar’s Dharma Production. While the film has been making headlines since its release, we are here to tell you if you should go for it or not.

Akshay Kumar portrays the character of DCP Vir Sooryavanshi, who has a solid mission to protect the city from big attacks. He’s so committed that for him his wife Riya played by Katrina Kaif and son Aryan come after his duty. Speaking about his character Vir Sooryavanshi is a fun-loving cop who will entertain you throughout. Just like Simmba, even this cop-drama opens with Ajay Devgn’s monologue who reminds us of several terror attacks that shook the city after serial blasts in 1993. Akshay Kumar decides to join Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) after losing one of his parents in one of the terror attacks. While Sooryavanshi is a hardworking police officer, he goes through rough patches in his personal life as his wife Riya aka Katrina decides to not stay with him after their son Aaryan gets shot in the shoulder during a cross-fire between his father and some bad guys.

The concept of Rohit Shetty’s directorial revolves around the idea of revenge. While the plot of the film is very cliché and predictable, the action scenes of the movie again look inspired by Hollywood movie scenes. While the first part looked slow, the 2nd part is equally gripping and loaded with action drama. Sooryavanshi is loaded with Rohit Shetty’s style of entertainment, but we also expected some better punch lines as we have seen in Singham and Simmba which we feel were missing from this cop drama. In the middle of the film, Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif set the entertainment and hotness quotient soaring with the remake of the old hit song Tip Tip Barsa Pani (from film Mohra). To keep up with its Mumbai audience, it also has plenty of Marathi dialogue, which we think doesn’t have a pan-level effect.

Well, Sooryavanshi will not only entertain you, but it is also sure to make you emotional. Just like the Simmba, makers have also plugged in the announcement of Singham 3 with it. What also gets boring is its length that we think could have been cut short. Sooryavanshi is made within the budget of Rs 200 crore and it will begin streaming on a digital platform from next month.

All in all! Sooryavanshi makes for a one-time watch as it includes rona-dhona, power-pack dialogues, a stunning star cast, and much more! Rohit Shetty’s directorial deserves to be your outing/movie date with friends and family.
