MNS Declares Pakistani Artists Will Not Be Permitted to Work in India

Several Pakistani artists have been a part of the Indian entertainment industry as actors. However, the resistance towards them increased ever since the Uri and Pulwama attacks. Pakistani actress Mahira Khan once stated in an interview that she was scared to sign any Indian projects, due to political reasons, too. Maharashtra Navnirman Sena recently announced that no Pakistani artists will be allowed to work in India.

Whether or not Pakistani actress Mahira Khan will ever be able to work in the Indian entertainment industry, is a doubtful matter. Recently, when the actress spoke about having signed a new project in India, a Maharashtrian political party was quick to show their intolerance for Pakistani stars. Following the reports of Mahira’s acceptance of an offer for an upcoming Indian project, the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena declared that it will not let any Pakistani artist work with Indian stars.

While Mahira had once stated how she was scared of signing any Indian projects, she recently stated that she would take them on without much hesitation since that is exactly what professionalism meant. However, the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena has other plans and has reacted accordingly, to the information regarding her signing a project in India. Mahira Khan had debuted in Bollywood with the film Raees, wherein she starred in a lead role opposite Shah Rukh Khan. There was substantial tension surrounding the film’s release and her presence in it ever since the 2016 Uri attacks took place. While the film did release the following year, in 2017, Mahira did not go out to promote the film. The actress is set to be a part of a project named Yaar Julahe with ZEE5.
