Confirmed Round of 32 Results

Canada 1–0 South Africa | A clean, clinical victory for Canada — one goal enough to send them through.

Brazil 2–1 Japan | Brazil edged a tight tie, Japan giving them far more trouble than expected before the Seleção held on.

Germany 1–1 Paraguay (Paraguay win 4–3 on sudden death penalties) | Germany and Paraguay could not be separated in 120 minutes. Paraguay held their nerve in a shootout that went to sudden death, sending one of football’s giants crashing out.

Netherlands 1–1 Morocco (Morocco win 3–2 on penalties) | The Netherlands pushed Morocco all the way, but it was not enough. Morocco held their nerve in the shootout and are through to the Round of 16.

Norway 2–1 Ivory Coast | Haaland’s 60th-minute strike settled a pulsating tie that could have gone either way.

France 3–0 Sweden | Mbappé brace, Barcola goal. France made a statement. Sweden barely threatened.

Mexico 2–0 Ecuador | El Tri controlled from start to finish. Ecuador finished with ten men after Prestianni’s red card.

England 2–1 DR Congo | England were 1–0 down for 74 minutes. Kane scored twice in the last 16. DR Congo were better for most of it and deserved more.

Belgium 3–2 Senegal (AET) | The most controversial result of the round. Senegal led 2–0 and were eliminated on a disputed stoppage-time penalty in extra time.

USA 2–0 Bosnia and Herzegovina | Balogun scored, got sent off, and USA still won with ten men. Tillman’s free-kick in the 82nd minute sealed it.

Spain 3–0 Austria | Oyarzabal brace, Porro header. Cucurella created almost everything. Spain look the most complete team left.

Portugal 2–1 Croatia | Three Croatian goals disallowed. Ronaldo was substituted off, visibly unhappy, in the 81st. Gonçalo Ramos won it in the 94th. VAR denied Croatia a 90+15’ equalizer. Football at its most chaotic.

Switzerland 2–0 Algeria | Embolo in the 10th, Ndoye 60 seconds into the second half. Kobel made six saves. Switzerland quiet, Switzerland through.

The Match Everyone Is Watching: Portugal vs Spain

It is the fixture the draw threatened and the results delivered. Two Iberian neighbors, both through the Round of 32 in very different ways. Spain were clinical, composed, and barely troubled. Portugal were chaotic, had Ronaldo substituted, and needed a 94th-minute Ramos header to survive Croatia.

The styles could not be more different. Spain have not conceded in the knockout rounds. Portugal have already been behind in this one.

Portugal vs Spain is the match of the Round of 16. It is probably the match of the tournament so far.

Another exciting match is the one between Brazil and Norway. Brazil initially trailed Japan in their match but came back. On the other hand, they have never beaten Norway.
