And that’s the premise of Chhotolok, a thriller that follows the trail of damaged souls left behind by prominent politician Mohor Bhattacharya (Indrani Haldar). The series starts slow, swinging between the present and the past with rhythmic regularity to establish the events and characters that lead to Rupsha’s murder. And the seemingly slowest cog in the wheel is SI Mondol – the cop investigating the murder. She speaks slowly, moves slowly, and has this air of surrender about her when she sees almost all of Rupsha’s neighbours nosing around her flat and body when she and her team arrive on the scene. She gives off this homemaker in a cop’s uniform vibe all through the series. And Daminee totally kills it. The powerhouse of an actress Daminee is, she makes SI Mondol grow on you as the series progresses.
