The plot of Kranti movie

The film is set in British India in the 19th century and tells the tale of the country's struggle for freedom between 1825 and 1875. Sanga and Bharat alias Kranti, a prince and freedom warrior, lead the rebellion. Sanga is a devoted and trustworthy worker of the Ramgarh royal family. He discovers that the British were looting gold and jewelry and bringing in munitions after Laxman Singh authorises them to use the port for commercial reasons. 

The Britishers implicate Sanga on treason and murder charges in connection with his alleged involvement in the death of Laxman Singh. Despite being on death row, he manages to escape and eventually joins a gang of rebels whose only objective is to remove the British from India. They grow into a swarming army, all marching under the banner of "Kranti," the name they had given to their independence movement.

Dilip Kumar plays Sanga, while Manoj Kumar essays the titular role. The character of Shakti is played by Shashi Kapoor, while Shatrughan Sinha plays Karim Khan.
