Shyama, a devotee of Lord Krishna, stays with her family in a village. Her sister-in-law feels that nobody will marry Shyama due to her dark complexion. Shyama’s family is heartbroken when she gets rejected by a prospective groom and his parents. Nikhil, who is a successful businessman and is phobic towards the colour black, visits his factory, and his family prepares for his parents’ wedding anniversary. Shyama’s mentor, Rukmini, takes Shyama along with her to sing at the anniversary party.

Rukmini instructs Shyama to secretly sing from the backstage so that the former’s daughter, Radharani, can pretend to sing on the stage by mouthing the lines. However, the electric metre box catches fire, and Nikhil gets a panic attack. When Nikhil faints, Shyama holds him and stops him from hurting his head. Rukmini warns Shyama that nobody can learn that the latter had saved Nikhil. Later, Nikhil’s mother, Sujata, and his sister-in-law, Disha, plan to find a suitable and fair bride for him.

Trilochon, a wealthy businessman, visits Shyama’s family. Nikhil rebukes Sujata for her obsession for fair skin and reminds her of how she had insulted Trilochon by rejecting his daughter for having a dark complexion. In order to take revenge on Nikhil’s family, Trilochon tells Shyama’s parents that he has found an ideal match for her. Nikhil and his brothers, Arun and Ashok, visit Nabadwip to investigate a fraud. Shyama sings a song at her friend’s wedding, which attracts Nikhil.

At her friend Mou’s wedding, Shyama’s song draws Nikhil towards her. Nikhil’s sister-in-law, Disha, shows Sujata the picture of a prospective match, Amrita, for Nikhil. Rukmini and Radharani arrive at the wedding, and Rukmini is furious to learn that Shyama had sung in front of everyone. When Nikhil, his brothers and the police inspect the marketplace to find out the source of the illegal distribution of spices, a fight breaks out. Later, Nikhil protects Shyama and offers to drop her home.

Nikhil drops Shyama to her house and meets her parents. Sujata is worried as she is not being able to contact her sons, and Disha consoles her. After Nikhil’s departure, Rukmini rebukes Shyama for singing in front of everyone. She reminds Shyama about the amount that Krishnacharan has borrowed from the former. Nikhil and his brothers return home, and Disha welcomes Amrita to their house. Trilochon appoints Monali, a model, to accomplish his motive of taking revenge on Nikhil’s family.

Nikhil’s family warmly welcomes Amrita. Meanwhile, as arranged by Trilochon, a prospective groom and his family meet Shyama and finalise the alliance. Shyama is unwilling to get married as she must financially support her family. She decides to go to Kolkata and meet Trilochon. Later that night, Shyama sneaks out of her house, but her sister-in-law spots her. The next morning, while Disha gives instructions to Amrita to impress Nikhil’s family, Shyama’s parents get worried to find her missing.

Trilochon plans to introduce Monali as Priyanka to Nikhil’s family as the latter's prospective match. Shyama arrives at Trilochon’s office and shares her worries with him. Disha’s plan to make Amrita sing a devotional song backfires. Trilochon lies to Shyama that her future in-laws have agreed to let her sing even after her wedding. Later, Shyama spots that Tatan and Dodo, Nikhil’s nephews, are getting kidnapped. She rescues them by throwing chilli powder on the faces of the kidnappers.

Nikhil chases the kidnappers, but they manage to escape. He then thanks Shyama for saving his nephews. Disha wants Amrita to impress Nikhil’s family by preparing dinner for them. Shyama tells her parents that her future in-laws will allow her to sing. However, Rukmini asks Shyama’s parents to call off the wedding as the former does not want Shyama’s wedding to hinder Radharani’s musical career. Nikhil’s family watches a video of Radharani’s performance, and Nikhil recognises Shyama’s voice.

Upon following Disha’s instructions, Amrita pretends to cook dinner for everyone, and Disha secretly orders food from outside. During dinner, Krishnacharan praises Shyama’s cooking skills and informs everyone that her wedding will take place in Kolkata. Disha presents the ordered food to her family and states that it is prepared by Amrita. Nikhil and his father, Basanta, feel that the food tastes like it has been prepared by a restaurant. Sujata then discovers Amrita’s lie and rebukes her.

Trilochon calls Krishnacharan and tells him that he is sending INR 1 lakh for Shyama’s wedding. Disha tells Sujata that she has sent Amrita back to her own house. Kesto, Shyama’s younger brother, shows gold buttons to her and states that Nikhil must have left them by mistake at their house. Rukmini asks Shyama’s sister-in-law, Parvati, to gather information about Shyama’s prospective groom. Later at the temple, Sujata spots Monali and gets impressed by the latter’s charitable deeds.

At the temple, Sujata asks Nikhil to introduce himself to Monali, but he refuses to do so. According to Trilochon’s plan, the matchmaker shows Monali’s photograph to Sujata as a prospective match for Nikhil. Upon Rukmini’s instructions, Parvati pressurises Krishnacharan to get the prospective groom’s contact number. Shyama then overhears Parvati talking to Rukmini over the phone. Trilochon asks his assistant, Chanchal, to arrange for a couple, who will pretend to be Monali’s parents.

Shyama tries to reason with Rukmini about why the latter should not stop her from getting married. Meanwhile, Sujata is excited to meet Monali’s parents. Shyama recalls her dreams and ambitions. She also recalls the time when her family learnt about Kesto’s heart disease and how Rukmini had helped them by giving money for Kesto's treatment. The matchmaker introduces Monali as Priyanka to Nikhil's family and makes them meet the couple, who pretend to be Priyanka’s parents.

Nikhil’s family asks questions to Priyanka. Parvati is furious as Rukmini has cancelled her plans of stopping Shyama’s wedding. Shyama assures Parvati that she will continue to support her family even after her wedding. Sujata informs Priyanka that Nikhil was kidnapped when he was a child and that he is scared of darkness. Shyama asks Parvati to give her Nikhil’s gold buttons so that she can return them to him. When Parvati suspects Shyama and Nikhil’s relationship, Sujata defends Shyama.

Disha is sceptical about the authenticity of Priyanka and her family. The matchmaker then brings a file that contains more information about Priyanka, relieving Nikhil’s family except for Disha. Sujata is upset to learn that Nikhil has lost his gold buttons. Trilochon instructs Krishnacharan to come to Kolkata along with his family so that they can proceed with the wedding arrangements. The villagers criticise and warn Krishnacharan regarding his decision of getting Shyama married in the city.

Disha tries to convince Sujata that an ambitious girl like Priyanka is not suitable for Nikhil. Sujata asks Disha to find out if Priyanka is the ideal match for Nikhil. When Shyama and her family are about to leave for Kolkata, Rukmini tells Krishnacharan that she wants to accompany them to Kolkata. Shyama then hands the gold buttons to Rukmini so that the latter can return it to Nikhil. Later, Shyama’s family arrives at Trilochon’s office and meets the prospective groom and his father.

Rukmini meets Shyama’s prospective groom and his father at Trilochon’s office. She tells Trilochon that she is visiting her cousin, Sujata, as Nikhil is getting married. Meanwhile, Nikhil’s family welcomes Priyanka and her parents to their house. Nikhil’s elder sister-in-law, Papiya, praises Priyanka’s beauty, and Disha questions Priyanka regarding her liking towards devotional songs. Trilochon’s assistant, Chanchal, brings Shyama’s family to a guest house. Later, Kesto loses consciousness.

When Kesto loses consciousness, Shyama and her family panic. However, they come across Nikhil on the road, and the latter promptly decides to help them by taking Kesto to the hospital. Meanwhile, Nikhil’s family anxiously waits for him as Priyanka and her parents expect to meet him. Shyama is relieved to learn that Kesto is in a stable condition. Later, when Nikhil returns home, Priyanka’s parents appreciate his selfless behaviour. Nikhil and Priyanka’s wedding date is then fixed.

Shyama thinks about the time when Nikhil had asked her if she was the one who had saved his life on the night of his parents’ anniversary and to which she had agreed. Shyama and Bishnupriya rebuke Parvati for being inconsiderate regarding Kesto’s critical health condition. When Disha tells Nikhil that he could have sent an employee to help Shyama and her family, he informs her that it was Shyama who had saved Dodo and Tatan from getting kidnapped. Rukmini and Radharani arrive at Nikhil’s house.

When Rukmini returns the gold buttons to Nikhil, he asks for Shyama’s phone number. Shyama’s morning prayer disturbs Parvati and Shyama’s elder brother, Kanai’s sleep. Trilochon tries to calm down his daughter, who is extremely disturbed as Sujata had rejected her. Trilochon then meets Shyama’s family and fixes her wedding date, which is the same day on which Nikhil and Priyanka are supposed to get married. Trilochon asks Shyama’s prospective groom to put the engagement ring on her finger.

At the guest house, when Shyama’s prospective groom is about to put the engagement ring on her finger, Nikhil rings the bell, and the former drops the ring on the floor. Chanchal stops Nikhil from meeting Shyama. Trilochon orders Shyama and her family not to keep in touch with Nikhil. He also takes up the responsibility of Kesto’s surgery. Rukmini questions Trilochon’s benevolence towards Shyama’s family. Disha is upset as she is not being able to contact Priyanka, but Sujata defends the latter.

Rukmini asks Shyama not to keep in touch with Nikhil as his wedding is also finalised. Monali meets her friend, Rajeev, and tells him that she is getting INR 25 lakhs for pretending to be Priyanka. Shyama, Parvati and Kanai decide to go shopping. Meanwhile, Disha, Ashok and Nikhil arrive at a mall to shop for Nikhil’s wedding, and Priyanka joins them. When the security guard stops Shyama, Parvati and Kanai from entering the mall, Nikhil comes to their rescue.

After learning that Shyama, Kanai and Parvati are with Nikhil, the security guard readily apologises to them. Nikhil then introduces Shyama to Disha. Trilochon schemes to trick Nikhil and Shyama into marrying each other, and Chanchal assures him that they will be able to execute their plan successfully. Priyanka’s father, Taracharan, informs Basanta that Nikhil and Priyanka’s wedding is going to take place at Taracharan’s farmhouse. Shyama’s parents rebuke Parvati for wasting all their money.

While Sujata teases Nikhil about Priyanka, Shyama dreams about Nikhil and asks Lord Krishna the reason behind her dream. Sujata makes Nikhil speak to Priyanka over a call. Rajeev advises Monali to get married to Nikhil for his money, but Monali refuses to do so. Meanwhile, Rukmini is worried that after Shyama’s wedding, everyone might find out that Radharani cannot sing and that she secretly uses Shyama’s voice in order to become a singer. Rukmini then plans to stop Shyama’s wedding at any cost.

At night, Shyama spots two shadows and wakes up her family. However, they learn that Trilochon has appointed two security guards for the guest house, and Shyama saw their shadows. Meanwhile, Rajeev drives a car in an inebriated state with a drunk Monali beside him. Nikhil is worried as Priyanka is not answering his calls, and Sujata consoles him. Rajeev loses control, and the car crashes near the guest house. Shyama and the security guards rush to their aid, but Rajeev and Monali drive away.

Parvati scolds Shyama for leaving the guest house in the middle of the night to help two strangers, but Shyama defends herself. Priyanka calls Nikhil and apologises for not being able to receive his calls. Basanta tells Rukmini that Radharani must sing at Nikhil’s wedding. Trilochon informs Shyama’s family that Rukmini had called Shyama’s prospective groom. Later, Rukmini arrives at the guest house and speaks to Shyama privately. She tells Shyama that she will not allow her to get married.
