Patna Jan 20 PTI Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar announced Thursday that the existing COVID-19 restrictions would be extended till February 6 Due to a surge in COVID-19 cases the state government had imposed curbs since January 4 The restrictions were due to end on January 21 The status of COVID-19 was reviewed In view of the situation it has been decided to extend all the existing restrictions currently in force till 6th February 2022 All of you are requested to take special precautions and follow the guidelines issued by the government the chief minister tweeted A government order said the ongoing night curfew will continue and schools up to eighth grade will remain closed Noting that physical classes will not be allowed in coaching centres the order said administrative work may be done in schools colleges and coaching centres with 50 per cent capacity Restaurants and business establishments will have to down their shutters by 8 pm A maximum of 50 people will be allowed to attend weddings and 20 at funerals Parks swimming pools gymnasiums zoos and places of tourist interest will remain closed till February 6 the order said Meanwhile the spread of COVID-19 cases continued unabated in the state as 3475 more people tested positive for the infection on Thursday pushing the tally to 802741 Six more patients succumbed to the disease taking the death toll to 12162 a bulletin issued by the state health department said Altogether 763906 people have recuperated from the disease so far including 7277 in the last 24 hours The states active coronavirus count is 26673 on Thursday Bihar had reported 4063 fresh cases and 11 COVID-19 deaths on Wednesday Of the new cases 745 fresh infections 254 less than the previous day were reported from Patna alone on Thursday The recovery rate in the state increased to 9516 per cent from 9467 on Wednesday the bulletin said Bihar has so far reported 67 cases of the Omicron variant PTI PKD MM MM

Patna Jan 19 PTI The Rail Land Development Authority RLDA a statutory body under the Ministry of Railways is inviting bids for leasing out a plot at a prime location in the city measuring 7361 square meters According to RLDA Vice-Chairman Ved Parkash Dudeja the site for which bids can be submitted till March 7 has to be developed in two parts One part measuring 551423 sqm will be leased out for commercial development for a period of 99 years while an additional area of 184677 sqm is earmarked for railway redevelopment works Dudeja said The entire site will be handed over in a single phase he said The site falls under the jurisdiction of Patna Municipal Corporation PMC It is to be redeveloped fully as per Master Plan for Patna-2031 The site has a permissible Floor Space Index of 25 Reserve price of the land proposed to be leased out has been kept at Rs 47 Crore he added The developer is mandated to redevelop 59 units of type 2 railway quarters with a provision for internal circulation roads landscaping civic amenities along with their maintenance for a period of three years the RLDA Vice-Chairman said The redevelopment part has to be completed in two years Dudeja said PTI NAC MM MM

Patna Jan 19 PTI Power availability in Bihar is likely to look up further with the commissioning of a 660 MW unit in Aurangabad district by the National Thermal Power Corporation According to Vijay Singh Regional Executive Director East-1 NTPC the third and final unit of Nabinagar Power Generating Company NPGC at Nabinagar in Aurangabad is scheduled this month Total generation capacity of NPGC would be raised to 1980 MW from 1320 MW at present with a total expenditure of Rs19412 crore Singh said Bihar would get 848 per cent that is 559 MW while the rest would be allocated to Uttar Pradesh Jharkhand and Sikkim the official said NTPC is proud of its team at NPGC which worked with dedication to achieve this milestone in record time span amid challenges thrown up by COVID-19 pandemic he said The NTPC official said 72 hours Full Load Trail operation of this unit will commence from January 26 This means the unit is officially moving towards NPGC generation fleet he added According to NTPC spokesman Vishwanath Chandan two units of NPGC have been operational since September 6 2019 and July 232021 respectively from which Bihar has been getting 1122 MW With the successful commissioning of Unit 3 total power allocation from NPGC to Bihar would reach 1683 MW he said At present NTPC has an installed power generation capacity of 7970 Megawatts MW across six projects in Bihar Chandan added PTI NAC MM MM
