What Will Be Sachin Pilot’s Next Course Of Action?
Following his removal from the post of Deputy Chief Minister and State Congress Chief, will Sachin Pilot form his own party or will he join the BJP?
After his unceremonious ouster from the post of Deputy Chief Minister and State Congress Chief, Sachin Pilot faces a crossroad over his next political move. There are various routes that the leader may adopt. Firstly, if he floats his own party, he will have to poach more MLAs, force a floor test with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and work on dislodging the Gehlot Government. He could become the Chief Minister with the external support of the BJP or by forming an alliance government. He will still face the threat of disqualification, as the speaker is a Gehlot-loyalist.
Secondly, if he joins the BJP, it will diminish his chances of becoming a CM, as party veterans like Vasundhara Raje are unlikely to agree to his candidature.
Lastly, he might reconcile with the Congress, where he remains in the party and continues to raise his concerns against the Gehlot government. This could be similar to what his father, Rajesh Pilot had done in the past, when he fought Congress President Sonia Gandhi’s nominee Sitaram Kesari for the Party President post. Though he lost, he chose to remain in the party.
