Weather Department Warns Of High Tide In Mumbai

As rains hit several parts of the city, the IMD has warned people of a 10.40 am high tide and also issued orange alerts for likely thunderstorms on Friday and Saturday

As rains continue in several parts of the country, the weather forecast department predicted a 4.42 metres high-tide at around 10.40 am in Mumbai today. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said that areas including Mumbai, Thane and Palghar will be on high-alert due to expected heavy rains.

Yesterday, the Maharashtra capital received rain fall late evening and through the night, inundating several parts of the city. The agency also said that thunderstorms may hit the city and surrounding areas on Friday and Saturday.

As India witnesses a longer monsoon season this year, many states like Odisha, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana have suffered massive losses due to the incessant showers. In the last 24 hours, more than 32 people have died in Hyderabad as the city experienced its most severe October rainfall in more than a century.  As rescue operations are underway, a two-day holiday has been declared by the Telangana government to ensure the safety of its people.
