In a video released by the Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), soldiers from the patrol organization were seen carrying a dead body in the rocky terrain of the Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand. According to the ITBP, the soldiers carried the body for a distance of 25 kilometres for 8 hours straight. The body was of a 30-year-old porter named Bhupendra Rana, who worked for the ITBP. His death had apparently occurred on Friday, August 28, after being hit by a landslide while he was on his pony, carrying ration and essentials to ITBP camps.

The ITBP posted the video on its Twitter account and said, “Jawans of the 14th Battalion ITBP carried the dead body of a local in a remote area of Pithoragarh District of Uttarakhand for a distance of 25 Kilometers (In 8 Hrs) on foot to hand it over to the family members of the deceased.” Rana’s friend had informed his family but were unable to carry the dead body himself. Moreover, due to bad weather conditions, a chopper was not able to take the body to the village where Rana used to reside.
