Veere Di Wedding Might Get A Sequel And We Couldn’t Be More Excited
A source close to a leading daily had informed that ‘several from the industry have been encouraging’ the Veere Di Wedding filmmakers for a sequel.
June 2018 saw an all-female cast film Veere Di Wedding create a hoo-ha at the box office, a first for Bollywood. Albeit, we have seen actresses dominate the meaty chunk in a film in the past but czarinas Ekta Kapoor and Rhea Kapoor took charge to chuck out any male interference as they let their contemporary heroines headline the project. The unfiltered, unbothered and absolutely uncliched film scored brownie points on debunking stereotypes one scene at a time.
Steering clear of the common notion of ‘women are women’s worst enemy’ the fresh breath of air (read VDW) celebrated female friendships and reviewed life as a modern Indian woman sees it! And the raving reviews only attest its credibility and that of its stellar stars that there is nothing a woman cannot achieve. Dear men, take a back seat or leave it altogether! Sannu ki? Only if a sequel to this blockbuster success is on the cards is when we’d be interested. And guess what, there is probably another offering in store!
A source close to a leading daily had earlier informed, “Ekta and Rhea were in an intense discussion which has led to speculation on whether a sequel of VDW is on the cards. The two producers may come from different schools of cinema but have always aimed to make films that are distinctive and have been path breakers. With the success of Veere Di Wedding, several from the industry have been encouraging the two women producers to work on a sequel since the concept and the characters of the film were so loved”.
Another leading Bollywood news portal too confirmed the development as their source stated, “Yes Sonam Kapoor Ahuja and Swara Bhasker are definitely there in Veere Di Wedding 2, both their characters have been retained for the sequel. As for Kareena Kapoor Khan, the makers are still in talks with her to be a part of the project, but as of now it is too early to comment on whether she will give a go ahead or not.”
Now that we are clear on our getting our hopes and excitement to levels of supernova, the question remains – would you love to watch a sequel to Veere Di Wedding? Comment with a ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ in the box below.
