Presumptive Democratic Presidential nominee, Joe Biden has broken the long wait and has declared Kamala Harris as his running mate. That makes Harris the first Black woman and also the first Asian American woman to have been made a Vice Presidential nominee in the US. She is the daughter of immigrants, with her father having hailed from Jamaica and her mother from India. Harris herself was in the running for the Democratic ticket but had suspended her campaign last December while endorsing Biden.

The Democratic Primaries were a tough fight between Joe Biden and Bernie Sanders in the end, but the latter suspended his campaign in April this year, making the former a presumptive nominee. Biden is all set to fight the November 2020 US election with Donald Trump who has the unanimous support of Republican delegates. Trump was quick to question the appointment of Kamala Harris as Biden’s running mate, calling her a “meanest, horrible” candidate.
