Congress leader and former Member of Parliament, Raashid Alvi has directed a heavy attack towards the ruling BJP government of Narendra Modi. The high rates of unemployment being experienced by the country right now could lead to a rise in crimes, he said. He also mentioned that the country is going through tough times due to the COVID-19 pandemic and that it has worsened the conditions of the poor people in India.

The ex-MP from Congress said, “Unemployment is rising. Even the Standing Committee on Commerce said that more than 10 crore people have lost their jobs. That number is constantly rising. And now, coronavirus has got the entire country under its shadow. Poor labourers have no food to eat. As unemployment keeps rising, crime will definitely start increasing. When a man is driven by hunger, he has no option but to break the rule of law. He may somehow manage his own hunger, but no one is able to handle seeing their kids go hungry.”
