An under-construction building in Jaipur, Rajasthan collapsed today, injuring ten labourers who were working on it. Worse yet, around seven labourers are reported missing and are feared trapped inside the rubble. The building, of which only two floors were apparently made before the collapse, stood in the town of Diggi in the Malpura area of Jaipur. Heavy rains and the use of substandard materials by the contractor could be the two major reasons to be investigated by local authorities probing the reason for the collapse.

It was only a few days back that a four-storey building in Palghar collapsed but fortunately, no lives were lost in the incident, neither were there any reported injuries. A local from the building had said, “There were five families with 25 people in the building. The moment we saw the construction material falling off from the walls, we immediately started the evacuation and saved lives.”
