Who says vegetarian meals have to be boring?  Whether you are trying to avoid eating meat or if  your diet is already vegetarian, these protein-rich recipes from the popular Bengali cookery show Rannahgar will satiate your cravings in a delicious and healthy way.

Paneer Kebab

Paneer Kebab Curry


Grated paneer



Ground pepper

Red chilli powder

Ginger paste

Onion paste

Coriander powder

Boiled mashed potato

Whipped plain yogurt


Green chilli paste

Refined oil

Sugar to taste


Take all the ingredients except oil and make little patties. Fry the patties in oil and keep them aside. In the same oil, fry some more sliced tomatoes along with yoghurt, a sprinkling of sugar, ginger and onion paste, split green chillies and pre-fried onions till a runny gravy has formed. Pour the gravy over the previously fried kebab patties. Garnish with grated cheese and/ or fried onions.

Boiled soya bean nuggets

Yellow pepper

Sliced onions

Green chilli

Tomato ketchup


Season the soya bean with salt, pepper, chilli powder and mix with some cornflour and water. Fry in oil and keep aside. In a pan, fry some diced red and yellow peppers, split green chilli, sliced onions, green chilli paste, chilli powder, salt and pepper with a bit of oil and water. When the water has reduced, add some tomato ketchup and ground pepper. Stir in the previously fried soya bean. Season according to taste.
