Swami Avimukteshwaranand has caused new controversy in the Ram temple saga by lodging a protest against Muslims attending the bhoomi pujan in Ayodhya on August 5, 2020. He was speaking about a Muslim man named Faiz Khan who is walking 800 kilometres from his hometown to attend the ceremony. Khan hails from the birthplace of Lord Ram’s mother Kaushalya and is carrying soil from his village to contribute to the temple’s construction. Swami Avimukteshwaranand has said that Faiz must first convert to the Hindu faith and then attend the bhoomi pujan.

Speaking about the Muslim man who is walking to Ayodhya, the Swami said, “A Muslim man is bringing soil for the construction of the Ram temple. If a Muslim man places soil on the ground, the location turns into a kabristan. And a temple cannot be built upon a kabristan. Ayodhya itself is pure. The soil there is already holy.” Faiz Khan is not perturbed by such statements and says he hopes that their views will be transformed.
