State of Siege: 26/11 is a ZEE5 Original Series that is set to release on 20 March 2020. Starring Arjun Bajwa, Arjun Bijlani, Vivek Dahiya, Mukul Dev and more in pivotal roles, the series will explore various segments of the haunting 26/11 terror attack in Mumbai in 2008. Even though more than a decade has passed since the devastating incident, it continues to send shivers down our spines as we think of it.

In the upcoming original series, the makers will be explore the role of NSG commandos in stopping the terrorist activities and saving lives. Nobody enjoys recalling the day and time when the events of 26/11 unfolded, leaving hundreds dead or injured. However, we believe there are some important reasons why you should watch the show.

1. The show follows a documented trail of 26/11

State of Siege: 26/11 follows a well documented story of what happened on the fateful day when Mumbai was attacked by 10 terrorists, who entered the city from the sea. The series will be showcasing several angles to the story such as that of the hostages, the police, the NSG, the government, the media, as well as the terrorists.

2. It will showcase struggles of the police and the NSG commandos

With a view to educate the audience and give them a 360-degree view of what happened on the dreaded day, right from the struggles of the Mumbai police to tackle the situation, to their coordination with NSG commandos, State of Siege: 26/11 shows all the sides to the story.

3. Emphasises heroic moments and stories of individuals

During the terrorist attacks, several bravehearts emerged, many of whom helped someone escape death at the hands of terrorists, sometimes at the cost of their own lives. For example, the story of what Ms Sandra Samuel did to save the Jewish toddler Moshe from Chabad House is one such instance of bravery and compassion.

4. Hyper-realistic storytelling

The makers of the show wish to keep the storytelling as real and authentic as possible. Hence, they have opted for a hyper-realistic style which means it has a cinema vérité approach that takes us through a story without any dramatic insertions.

5. Visually relatable production design

To make the production design picture perfect, the makers have recreated several locations that were under attack on 26/11. Right from the cultural heritage of Chabad House to the hustle-bustle of CST station, the makers have perfected the designs that would make the story visually relatable and make the viewers shudder.

6. The chilling interrogation of the lone surviving terrorist

It is a known fact that out of the 10 perpetrators, nine were killed and only one survived. He was arrested and taken for a plethora of interrogations. During the interview, the terrorist revealed some chilling details about their terror gang, how they entered the city, and what made them engage in such acts of crime. State of Siege: 26/11 will see a rendition of the same series of interrogations and have a similar kind of effect on the audience.

7. A strong and gifted star cast

With Arjun Bajwa, Arjun Bijlani, Vivek Dahiya, Sid Makkar and more, rest assured that the performances will be at their best. The cast will definitely make you feel like you’re in the scene with them!

8. High-octane action sequences

Once again, to ensure realism and bring out an authentic vibe, the makers have put in quite a lot of high-octane action sequences. The sequences involving the attacks of terrorists on innocent pedestrians and tourists, the strategic airdrop moments where NSG commandos used ropes to climb down helicopters and take their positions for Operation Black Tornado, and many other such instances will see some real action.

9. Based on Sandeep Unnithan’s book

Sandeep Unnithan’s Operation Black Tornado: The Three Sieges of Mumbai 26/11 is the book that inspired the makers to choose this specific story for an original series. The journalist-turned-author has revealed untold tales of bravery and odious villainy that took place on the tragic day in 2008. Many of the real stories penned down by the author have been brought forth in the series, some that you probably might not know about.

10. How the attack changed the course of life in Mumbai

Ever since the attack, the city has seen some tremendous changes in terms of security. Security forces have beefed up the resources required to maintain the city’s peace and to avoid a repetition of the horrible day. Several interesting changes have occurred not just in the city but also in the lives of some of the individuals involved. You can learn about them in the show.
