Breaking through the digital revolution of OTT entertainment is the hit ZEE5 Original Series Kaafir, starring Dia Mirza and Mohit Raina in the lead roles. It focuses on a Pakistani woman named Kainaaz Akhtar, who is wrongly accused of militancy and is captured by the Indian forces. Enter Vedanth Rathod, an Indian lawyer-turned-journalist who picks law once again after he comes across Kainaaz’s little daughter Seher (played by Dishita Jain). A twisted yet simple tale of humanity, justice, love and trust is what forms the crux of Kaafir.

With just a great cast bucket and a brilliant crew with 80% women on board, there was no way that the industry professionals would give the Kaafir team anything less than an A+ for such a wonderful attempt at covering such a sensitive topic. Today, we would like to share some behind-the-scene incidents that producer of the show Siddharth Malhotra and the director Sonam Nair confessed during their exclusive interviews with our Hindi team.

1. Despite assuming that they would finish off the reading of the script in one day, like how it is generally, but each episode actually took Dia, Mohit and the rest of the crew, around 15 days per every episode.

2. The shooting was ideally supposed to happen in J&K only but just two days before they were set to leave, Siddharth got a call stating that it’s best we cancel our trip since there was some tension going on in the state.

3. The next option was Himachal Pradesh, so the exact location they shot at was the Kalpa-Sangla range in the state, which the crew reached after travelling from Chandigarh in a car with a journey time of 14 hours non-stop.

4. Siddharth commended Dia Mirza when she didn’t use any tube for her shots in the river. Apparently, through intense meditation she went into the freezing water (-6 degree celsius approximately) and gave the shot all by herself.

5. Dia Mirza got her first tattoo ever during the Kaafir journey all thanks to the director Sonam Nair, who had just recently got herself inked with a cresent moon and star. Her love for Sufism, the Darga and the Islamic vibe and culture.

6. Director Sonam Nair revealed that she calls Dishita Jain (Seher Akhtar) little Kareena Kapoor because she apparently doesn’t like rehearsing but it’s time to take the shot, she does it with precision.
