Fast fashion and ever-changing trends have affected us in some way or another. We all have guiltily swiped our cards and spent our savings on things because of the building peer pressure or social media influence. Like us, Suman from Saajana isn’t any different. We have seen try to get her hands on the latest sarees and makeup while burning a hole through her pocket. So, to stop this bad habit in its infancy, here are pointers that could help you. Take notes!

1. Understand your triggers
In what situation do you usually shop? What is your mindset like (bored, angry, sad)? Think about these things before shopping and write them down. Understand if you are shopping to seek validation from others in your new clothes/shoes. Writing it down will give you a clarity of mind and understand your triggers.
2. Be careful of those temptations
These temptations can come in various shapes and sizes. Like, if you see an influencer on social media boasting about a product or emailer about something, you might want to spend your hard-earned paycheck on it, too. To stop this, you could unsubscribe yourself from all the retailer email and stop following that page on social media.
3. Focus on other activities
Usually, we tend to rely on materialistic things to add value and bring us happiness. After their charm is forgotten in our lives, we then make another list of things to buy as this vicious yet addictive cycle continues. To come out of this habit, you could delete all the shopping applications. In your free time, try to indulge in helpful activities which will enrich you. As you are busy in these activities, you can easily take your mind off shopping.
4. Organise yourself
This includes decluttering your wardrobe or vanity kit. If you love spending on clothes, reorganising your wardrobe will help as it makes you realise the clothes that you haven’t used much. You can do something similar with your makeup kit. This makes you realise the importance of the money you have spent without much using the product. You will get a new perspective of working around with what you have than swiping your card to what you don’t have.
